But it's not all about the glitz and glam. I'm here to discuss my life as a fashion major as well. Currently I'm a Junior (I know exciting!) majoring in Fashion Communications and minoring in Journalism and Mass Communications (while also working toward my Merchandising Certificate) at Iowa State University. You may be thinking what does Iowa know about fashion (I thought the same), but its ranked number one for fashion schools in the Midwest and offers multiple fashion programs (outside of my focus there's Creative & Technical Design, Product Development for Apparel and Soft Goods, as well as Merchandising and Retail Analytics). Outside of academics, Iowa State offers one of the largest student designed fashion shows, as well as the ability to be part of TREND, a student run fashion magazine.
